Stephen Aaron Miller

MILLAMIX is a solo project of Stephen Miller’s based in Austin, Texas with the main focus on creating original pop music in the sound of the mid to late 80s.  Influences ranging from Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Howard Jones, Mr. Mister, and Phil Collins.

 

Stephen has been putting out solo albums since 2001, but he says this album feels more like him than any other album he has released to-date. Stephen hopes that this project taps into nostalgia for the folks his age and older and hopefully pull in the younger generation as well. 

 

A little background, so why 80s pop? Stephen was born in the early 80s and had the fortunate opportunity to be exposed to music at a very early age by his older brother, Robert. He would listen and record on blank cassettes the weekly radio top 40 countdown and educate me on what was hot on the charts. This was so exciting for “little” Stephen that he also decided to record the top 40 radio stations as well. He still remembers that radio station growing up in Austin, B93 FM! Stephen would sit up late listening and absorbing and studying the music and he just loved it! 

 

So fast forward to the present day and he still loves it! Stephen says it goes to show that you can start writing music in your head before you ever gain the skill and knowledge to produce something for the world. Stephen is happy to say he finally produced an album he’s had trapped inside his childhood head since the 80s.
